1. Introduction
Mephibosheth was a grandson of Saul; he was the son of Jonathan David’s friend. He was 5 years old at the time of his father’s
death at mount Gilboa. Mephibosheth means from the mouth of the shameful thing.
He was badly injured when there was war in Israel and his nurse took him and ran with him to a hiding place. She dropped him in the process of running.
2. Covenant remembered
After the death of Saul, and Jonathan and his brothers, nothing more was heard of the royal family. But after Israel had settled down to peacetime living David remembered his covenant with Jonathan. May God remember you today!
3. Kindness rewarded
• David restored all that was of the house of Jonathan to Mephibosheth.
• He was invited to eat from the King’s table
